Teenage Engineering KO SIDEKICK EP-136
The Teenage Engineering K.O.–SIDEKICK (model EP–136) is the perfect partner to your EP–Series sampler, matching the EP–133, EP–1320 and EP–40 in form factor - just clip them together with the usual LEGO pins.
Making Music Is Fun!
Somebody at Teenage Engineering definitely got the memo that making music is supposed to be fun, especially where the EP–Series is concerned. The SIDEKICK is no exception. As with everything Teenage Engineering makes, this is more than a utility product. Yes, it's a two-channel mixer with a built-in, connect-to-anything class-compliant audio interface and powerful FX processor - but it's so much more than that.
Move into the knock-out performance FX section for the first time, watch the SIDEKICK's eyes blink, and you'll know immediately that the usual dose of Teenage Engineering character is very much present. Using the EP–136 is straightforward thanks to onboard auto BPM detection, which works really well and is surprisingly quick at locking onto the tempo of incoming audio. Visual feedback, meanwhile, is handled brilliantly by the screen.
Put the squeeze on it
Each channel offers three compressor types, adding increased harmonics as you move past the clean A setting - B and C becoming progressively more distorted in a pleasant, musical way. The EQ flips between DJ, Studio and Parametric modes, with the screen providing essential curve-shape visibility throughout. Need more than two channels? Simply feed the output of one SIDEKICK into the Aux Input of the next.
Whether you're using the EP–136 as a mixer for your Teenage Engineering gear, synths and hardware from other manufacturers, or as a DJ mixer, this portable powerhouse makes content creation simple whatever the context. Running on 2 x AAA batteries and weighing just 300g (without batteries), it's easily pocketable.
