Akai Professional has just announced the public beta of MPC 3 and it’s a bit special.
Hot on the heels of standalone STEMS for MPC, this new OS builds upon the success of version 2 and looks to cement the MPC line-up as the only choice standalone beat creation.
In addition to a slick new look, the public beta offers you a chance to try the all-new workflow. It’s clear that Akai has been listening to online feedback, with improvements that will open up the platform to a new audience of potential MPC users.
The two big changes are to programs, which have now been reworked to become tracks retaining the powerful complexity that previously existed, and the arrangement window. A holistic arrangement view has long been called for, with users often exporting their creations from the MPC into a DAW for the final song arrangement. Now, this can all be done inside the MPC – making this already powerful platform even stronger.
In addition to the linear arrangement view and enhanced main view, there’s the new XL channel strip – which shows contextual track information quickly and concisely to help you with your mixing decisions.
