Teenage Engineering have just announced a firmware update for the OP1-Field and it’s going to be a really exciting one for long time users of the OP.

One of the most requested features for the OP-1 has finally arrived, Tape Undo. Until now users had to work with true virtual tape limitations, without any form of safety net, where every edit on the tape was permanent. This destructive and often limiting workflow led to frustration, especially when working on longer or more complex compositions. With the fresh addition of Tape Undo, that limitation is gone. The tape workflow now gives users the freedom to experiment and refine their ideas without the fear of losing previous takes.

Alongside this update, MIDI support has also received a major upgrade. Previously, the OP-1 offered only limited MIDI functionality, restricting how much external control users had. Now, it provides near-complete access to its parameters via MIDI. This expanded I/O opens the door to more advanced hardware setups. Users can control the OP-1 with external controllers and integrate it seamlessly with other Teenage Engineering gear, making it a far more flexible tool in both studio and out in the field…
