Since the launch of the Rane System One back in late January, much has been made of its standalone power. The truly next generation standalone DJ system benefits from the latest platform enhancements that inMusic have been working on (which also power the new Akai MPC Live III and recently announced MPC XL).
One of the key features that the new architecture delivers is Omnisource, which is the ability to seamlessly switch between multiple sources without the need to interrupt musical playback – something that’s essential in the DJ booth. Now, with the release of Serato DJ 4.0.3 (and Engine OS 4.6.0), we’ve finally been able to experience Omnisource in action – and it’s an exciting proposition for the future.
We’re also eagerly awaiting the next Engine OS update – which will include STEMS and a host of new features. Based on the current pace of development, and considering the Serato DJ integration has arrived on time, we expect to see big things this March…
